Nighttime Skincare: Product Breakdown

If you're here from my Detox Market "Get Un-Ready With Me," welcome! And if you're just here to check out what I'm slathering on my face, welcome also! I wanted to break down a few more details around what products I used in my nighttime routine, some are newer finds and some are long time staples, so let's get into the nitty gritty.

One Love Beauty Vitamin B Enzyme Cleansing Oil + Makeup Remover: Finding the right cleansing oil for myself has been a journey, and while at the end of the day I've tried a ton that effectively break down my makeup before going in with my second cleanse, the deal breaker for me is how it leaves my skin feeling afterwards. I don't love oil cleansers that are too heavy, don't emulsify and leave a thick film on my skin. I wear pretty lightweight makeup, and so I just need something gentle to remove the sunscreen and Glossier skin tint without over-cleansing or drying my skin out- and this cleansing oil is great for that. It's a thinner oil that spreads easily, slightly emulsifies into a milky consistency, and washes away with a really minimal film left behind. There are fruit enzymes to exfoliate and a vitamin B complex to detoxify, providing a thorough but non-stripping cleanse.

Ingredients: elianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil*, caprylic/capric triglyceride, di-ppg--10 adipate, polyglycerol-3 beeswax, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil* (and) lecithin* (and) cucurbita pepo (pumpkin) seed oil* (and) papain*, carica papaya (papaya) seed oil, tocopherol (natural non-gmo vitamin e), proprietary natural & organic fragrance *indicates organic

Tata Harper Clarifying Cleanser: This foaming gel cleanser is aimed at blemish prone, oily skin, both of which I am not. I have dry, sensitive skin that can be blemish prone once a month (inevitable), and recently I've stayed on the milky, creamy, non-foaming side of cleansers. I was afraid to use this cleanser thinking it was going to dry out my skin and cause some issues, but it actually doesn't! It does provide a very deep clean, which I don't necessarily need everyday, but when I want to get in there and take off a grimey day, this is a great cleanser. The mint scent in this is pretty strong, you can smell it as soon as you pump some out, but it's gone once you rinse off. There's also a cooling effect while using this that initially scared me, but like I said, it leaves me with a perfectly clean face and no dryness!

Tammy Fender Epi-Peel: I've written about this gentle micro-exfoliating mask in my January Detox Box post, but it does such a good job of working fast and effectively. There's kaolin clay to detoxify, the exfoliating particles are so fine that it never feels harsh, and all you need is 5 minutes. There's also shea butter for hydration and rosemary leaf oil to combat dryness. Great for keeping dry skin at bay and gentle enough to use every few days.

Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist: Whenever I want a simple mist that will give me a boost of hydration and refresh my skin, I always come back to this. With aloe to soothe, rose to hydrate and soften, and hibiscus for anti-aging with it's natural AHA's, it's a perfect go-to to act as a toner or skin refresher. It's light, leaves no residue behind, and if anything I tend to go a bit overboard using this mist until my face is basically wet. This is maybe my third bottle, and I'll definitely keep purchasing once this one is done.

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Flower Water, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filterate, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract (Neer Sikkappu Red)

Dr. Alkaitis Organic Eye Creme: The Dr. Alkaitis line is focused on using living ingredients that are 100% natural certified organic. Their organic eye creme is lightweight, but still rich enough to provide proper moisture to the undereyes. The product spreads easy and absorbs well, and in terms of effects to my undereye area? Well that's something that I think requires long term use to really get a grasp on if there's a difference, but as long as it hydrates the area without congesting, it's an A+ in my book!

Ingredients: Aloe Vera Gel Base*, Herbal Eye Renewal Complex (Wild Rose buds*, Linden Blossoms+, Roman Chamomile Flowers*, Quince+, St. John's Wort Blossoms*, Green Tea*, Cornflowers*, Mate*), Eye Rejuvenation and Support Complex (Virgin and Cold-pressed Jojoba*, Andean Mountain Rose Hip seed and Borage Oils*, Shea Butter*), Vegetable Lecithin, Natural Vitamin A, C, and E (D-Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta Tocopherols) Complexes, Citrus Seed Extracts. *Organic Ingredient. +Wildcrafted

Pai Back to Life Hydration Serum: This serum focuses on hydration without irritation, and it's a really lightweight texture that sinks in quick but provides enough of a boost to keep my skin happy. The key ingredients that provide the hydration factor are hyaluronic acid and a tri-berry blend (to help prevent moisture loss). The light texture of it feels like it'll be perfect with the coming spring weather, but still able to provide hydration without any heaviness. The entire Pai line is created with sensitive skin in mind, and there's nothing I've tried from their range that I haven't liked.

Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil: Very much a favorite of mine because it's simple, but such a heavy hitter in my routines. Rosehip oil has so many benefits: restores the skin, helps fade scars, brightens the complexion, moisturizes - the list goes on. And the fact that this oil is a blend of the fruit and seed oil make it even more potent. The texture is slightly thicker than some of my other oils, and my skin just drinks it up. I feel like layering this underneath my nighttime creams makes such a huge difference in keeping my skin more hydrated and brighter.

Ingredients: Rosa Canina Seed Extract*, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract*, Tocopherol, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract*. *Organically produced 99% of product.

Kahina Face Cream: Somehow this cream manages to be both rich and lightweight, which tends to be a difficult combo to find in the world of typical night creams. Usually, rich night creams equal something more heavy and thick (which do have their place in my routines), but the Kahina Face Cream moisturizes just as well as those but with a wonderful light and buttery texture. The aloe makes the cream so soothing, while the argan oil & resevratrol provides moisture and anti-aging benefits. The scent is very subtle but pleasant, and I've been waking up with hydrated skin without the greasiness thanks to this cream. Between the experience of using this and the positive effects, it has quickly become my number 1 night cream of choice.
